Estimate you moving costs

Estimate your moving costs

We can provide you with some useful information that will help you to calculate the moving costs of your move.

The cost of your move depends on the weight of your belongings and the distance from your old place to the new one . Also your moving cost estimate depends on the final number services you are using such as packing/unpacking.

To help you to calculate your moving costs, movers will give you a moving estimate. Be sure to get written moving estimates. Don’t just trust what your mover will tell you on the phone.  Ask for a written moving estimate to compare it with others that you have received from different moving companies.
Compare the prices and the services from the different moving companies, but don’t rush for the company that gives you the lowest moving estimate. Usually if the moving quote is noticeably lower than other moving companies with similar services, then something is not right. Probably there will be additional fees and charges. So take time and carefully read the moving estimates that you received from different companies.

The estimate for your move is based on the weight of your belongings, the distance from your old to your new place, and all additional services that you require from your mover. So, be careful what services and supplies you ask for from your moving company. To be your moving estimate as accurate as possible, tell your movers about every single item that is going to be moved. Don’t forget to go into the basement and garage. Your moving estimate will be accurate as long as you give accurate and detailed information to your potential moving company.

Most movers will offer to you two types of moving quotes: non-binding and binding.

  • Non-binding moving estimates are not bids or contracts. A non-binding moving estimate is basically an approximation of the cost based on your mover’s survey of the items you want to be moved. So the final cost of the moving could be higher than the estimate you have received.
  • On the other hand, if you get a binding moving estimate you are obligated to pay the price set forth in the binding moving estimate. Even if your belongings weighs more or less than the estimated amount, you will pay the price on the binding moving estimate.  So be careful what type of moving estimate are you asking for from your mover.

One of the most important things about moving is money. We are all running on budget, so it is essential to know your costs about the moving in advance. Find a loyal movers and give them detailed information about your future moving. This way you will have all your costs accurate calculated prior booking.
